Department of General Surgery

General Surgery Department is one of the major clinical department imparting training to Under graduates & Post-Graduates.It is functioning excently in from the inception of the college. Various academic sessions are held regarding clinicals, theory & practical skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Undertake teaching of MBBS undergraduates from 3rd term to 9th terms
  • Provide clinical training to all the house surgeons for 45 days in surgical wards and OT, OPD days, one minor OT day, attend every week elective surgeries and emergency surgeries.
  • MBBS students are posted to surgery department for five sessions in different semesters. More stress is laid upon teaching the basics of history taking and clinical examination is arriving at the diagnosis and recent advances in Surgery.
  • Interesting case presentation by faculty in academic council meeting held every month
  • Guiding PG students regarding clinical examination practical teaching skills in surgeries
  • To be in cope up with the recent governing ordinances from NMC/RGUHS Bangalore
  • Departmental meetings regarding academic and research work teaching time table examinations schedules, students attendance and progress report etc.
