Academic Activities

CME Programme held on 15th December, 2017 at J. J. M. Medical College, Davangere

As part of academic activity in Department of Anatomy, a CME programme was organized at J. J. M. Medical College, Davangere on 15th December, 2017. The subject of CME was “Neural Tube Defects – An Overview”. 204 delegates had registered for CME. The CME was well attended and the delegates comprised of Teaching Faculty and Postgraduate students of JJMMC and SSIMS&RC. In the CME Dr. Raghavendra V. P., Professor of Anatomy gave an overview on Development of Neural tube and its defects. This was followed by a talk on Recent trends in Prenatal Diagnosis of NTD’s and Advances in Prenatal Management of NTD’s by Dr. Anitha S. from Bangalore Fetal Medicine Centre, Bangalore. Later Dr. Sanjeeva G. N., from Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health, Bangalore spoke on Genetic aspects of NTD’s. Dr. Mohan Marulaiah, Director of Bapuji Child Health Institute gave an overview of Meningomyelocele and Management of Neural Tube Defects. At the end of the programme video conferencing via Skype on Digital Medical education was done by Dr. V. Balasubramanyam, Professor and Head of Anatomy, St. John’s Medical College.
In the inaugural programme, after invocation Dr. Nirmala D., Professor and Head of Anatomy, Organising Secretary of CME welcomed the gathering. Dr. S. B. Murugesh, Principal, J. J. M. Medical College who presided over the programme spoke on importance of NTD’s for Medical Professionals and outlined goals of CME. Felicitation of Dr. C. M. Ramesh, Former Professor and HOD of Anatomy; Dr. G. F. Mavishettar, Professor and Former HOD of Anatomy; & Sri. S. Thangaraj Thomas, Emeritus teacher of Anatomy was done during the inagural function of CME for their outstanding contribution to the Department. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Raghavendra V. P., Professor of Anatomy.
